Quote Analysis:  I played division I basketball and I can relate to this Jason Kidd’s quote a great deal.  I never became a professional basketball player, but I am confident that I reached my full potential as a basketball player.  As summer approaches I can remember the sacrifices I made during the summer months and year round.  While all my friends played around, while they went to parties, I was at the park, I was at the gym, I was working towards my goals and I was serious about achieving them. My point, if you want to be the best basketball player you can be, you cannot do the bare minimum.  It takes late nights and early mornings and thousands of hours to be the best player you can be.  If I could change this quote it would be “those are the sacrifices that you have to make if you want to be the best basketball player you can be.”  Set your goals and remember there are thousands of basketball players at different high schools, in different towns, and all across the country that want exactly what you want.  What are you willing to sacrifice to reach your full potential?

Utah State Team Camp:  Our JV and Varsity basketball teams will be traveling to Logan, Utah this next week to participate in the Utah State University team camp.  We are guaranteed 7 games and I know that everyone involved is excited about playing against some the best basketball Utah has to offer.  At Rocky, we have started and we hope to continue the tradition of participating in an out of state team camp each summer.  We could not do this without tremendous parent support.  Thank you!  Our teams will leave on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the east Rocky Mountain High School parking lot after football practice and return late on Saturday evening.  Below are the riding assignments:

Chrissie Ernst:  Riley Neal, Hunter Pixley,  and Daniel Dideriksen. (3 players)
Charles Ellerby:  Robert Ellerby, Tino Miko, Cam Erickson (3 players)
Rod Wilson:  Jon Rakiecki, Mike Callahan, Wynn Wilson, Jake Bruntz, and Connor Demott. Michael Musante
(2 coaches and 4 players)
Monty McDonalds:  Max McDonald, Jordan Williams, Mike Roley, Benji Williams, Preston Carlson, Henry Powell.  (6 players)

Open Weights:  The Rocky Mountain High School weight room will be open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 am to noon the remainder of the summer with the exception of holidays and the dead week at the end of July.  As coaches and players will be participating in a variety of camps at different times and places, players are encouraged to maintain and improve their strength and conditioning during this time as time allows.  Bring a teammate!

Fort Collins Team Camp:  The Fort Collins team camp which is being held at Fossil Ridge High School on June 21 and June 22 has released it’s pool play schedule for Friday, June 21, 2013.  We will play at 8 am, 12 PM, and 4 pm on Friday.  Our Saturday schedule will be based on how we perform during pool play.  For more information see our website:  www.rockybasketball.net under forms.

Kids Camp:  I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the players who volunteered their time to help coach our kids camp last week.  We have over 40 boys participate this year and the coaching staff was thrilled to see so many participate.

Medical Release Forms:  Players who are participating in the Utah State and Colorado State team camps will need to complete the medical release forms.  These forms are located on our website (www.rockybasketball.net) under forms.  Players will not be allowed to participate in any game until those documents are given to any member of the Rocky Mountain High School coaching staff.  In addition, if you are participating in the Shane Warwick camp, you must sign and bring in the registration form also located on our website.

“A lot of late nights in the gym, a lot of early mornings, especially when your friends are going out, you're going to the gym, those are the sacrifices that you have to make if you want to be an NBA basketball player.” –Jason Kidd
